From one of Zi's close friends,
"Zivanai was amazed by just how much positive impact he made on the Zimbabwean music scene through ONELEFTSOUND STUDIO. Using very modest equipment, not having been formally trained and with limited financial resources OneleftSound managed to score a lot of successes.
Zivanai managed to train a number of people who (even now that OneleftSound has ceased to operate) still earn a living by being audio engineers and music producers. A lot of session musicians made OneleftSound their home-base as they were always assured of getting work playing on people's records so as to earn money to support themselves and their families. Oneleftsound made it possible for a lot of talented young artists who could not afford to pay for studio time to record their music after which they would be assisted by the studio in seeking distribution and marketing. In its three years of operation, OneleftSound managed to help in launching careers of such artists as Fungisai Zvakavapano, Betty Makaya and many other artists who are now enjoying successful music careers. The success of OneleftSound studio was to inspire other entrepreneurs to start their own studios, such as DAT STUDIOS and TMC, who have taken themselves to high levels of prominence on the music scene in Zimbabwe.
Lately, Zivanai has been receiving letters from some of his former clients who say they feel the void that he left when he moved to America. Some say they have even shelved their projects and are willing to wait until they get another chance to work with Zivanai again.
But Zivanai feels it was necessary for him to move to America to pursue a quality Music Industry education that will eventually benefit a lot of people back in Zimbabwe. Zivanai feels that there is a lot of talent that does not realize its fullest potential because of a lack of properly trained music Industry professionals who are capable of handling both technical and business aspects of the music industry. His dream is to help turn the Zimbabwean music industry into a very vibrant scene where musicians can truly benefit from their talent as well as raise Zimbabwean music to great heights on the international scene. Therefore, Zivanai is studying for a degree in Industry and Technology at Mercy College in New York while he also gains valuable practical Industry experience as works in probably the most active city for music in the world.
